Based in Texas, Mitsui E&P USA (MEPUSA), an oil and gas exploration and production company and the sister company of Mitsui & Co. USA, aimed to renovate its office to provide a functional, modern space for visiting executives. The company wanted to keep a similar aesthetic to its other offices by incorporating Japanese design elements. The result is an open floor plan and tranquil work environment inspired by nature. Upon entry, visitors are greeted with standing trees in the lobby illuminated by Focus Wall Wash and a reception area that eludes to the clean and elegant design of the rest of the office.

To save on costs, MEPUSA reused existing workstations and private office furniture, all of which had been inspired by Japanese culture and featured clean lines and simple designs. The organization splurged on some amenities such as the conference room with highly advanced technology and a new cafeteria, large enough to host company lunches and international conferences. Both areas are illuminated by Seem 4-LP which blends seamlessly with the ceiling for a clean, modern aesthetic.

To maintain an unobtrusive, simple design in accordance with the company’s Japanese-influenced architecture, Seem 4 LED and Seem 2 Asymmetric luminaires were also used in individual units throughout the office.
