Center for Medical Interoperability was designed to support collaboration, connectivity, and innovation.

Designed by Gresham Smith and Partners, the 16,000-square-foot headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, combines testing and development labs with flexible workspaces that encourage interaction and knowledge sharing.

Throughout the facility, Focal Point luminaires are thoughtfully integrated into a variety of ceiling conditions, from wood slat features and open ceilings to drywall and wood applications. Together, they create a cohesive visual experience while complementing the architecture and supporting occupant comfort.

Seem 2 Recess integrates cleanly within the wood slat ceiling, reinforcing the linear character of the architecture. Its minimalist profile complements the warmth and texture of the natural materials while delivering comfortable illumination throughout the spaces.

Skydome luminaires bring a consistent design language across a variety of ceiling. Skydome Suspended creates a striking visual presence within open ceilings, helping define gathering spaces with soft, evenly distributed illumination, while Skydome Recessed integrate seamlessly into drywall ceilings for a clean, unobtrusive appearance. Together, they deliver visual continuity, comfort, and architectural cohesion throughout the space.

Installed throughout both wood and drywall ceilings, ID+ Downlights support a clean, cohesive look across the facility. Their minimal appearance complements the surrounding materials while providing comfortable illumination that enhances the overall architectural experience.

The memorable and highly functional space delivers on the design team’s three guiding principles of creating a unique experience for users, fostering connection, and showcasing the art of science and the human care behind it.  It ultimately conveys the Center’s vision to support the seamless exchange of information to improve healthcare for all.
