Nera shines in recent competitions and garners prestigious 2016 Next Generation Luminaire (NGL) award and 2016 PIA Award.

A new family of linear and square pendant luminaires keeps on getting the attention of the lighting design community in luminaire design competitions.

NGL Award - Outstanding mention
NGL 2016Nera has achieved an Outstanding mention at the 2016 Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) Design Competition, the highest possible honor, awarded to only 3 indoor luminaires this year. In addition to the optics and illumination qualities of Nera, the judging panel made of industry experts appreciated the minimalist look of Nera, achieved through simple design and superior attention to details: A power to suspension approach (Focal Point’s Power-Up suspension system), mitered corners creating a one-piece appearance and seamless joining contributing to visual harmony for long runs. Nera results from an exploration of the architectural balance between solid and void and celebrates the freedom and beauty of open space by Illuminating the Void.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Illuminating Engineering Society, and the International Association of Lighting Designers, NGL was launched in 2008 to encourage technical innovation and promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED luminaires for commercial, industrial, and institutional applications.

“The NGL bar is set high, and the tires get kicked often and hard, so when the judges award a product, you know it was well earned.”
-DOE SSL Program Manager Jim Brodrick.

PIA Award
PIA 2016Nera also won a Product Innovation Awards (PIA) from the publishers of Architectural SSL magazine in the Decorative and Pendants category. The panel of professionals representing lighting design, lighting sales and distribution, lighting manufacturing, architecture and design, and lighting publishing noted that:

“The uniqueness of this product design is that it comes in a linear and square profile with varying sizes, while the fundamental design principles and components are the same.”
- Architectural SSL Magazine

The PIA awards determine and honor the most innovative LED and solid-state luminaires and fixtures on the market, while also recognizing the players behind the components that make up these light sources. The award winners ultimately represent a peer-recognized selection of quality products that the architectural and lighting design community can feel comfortable specifying.

“We are thrilled of the recognitions and praises that Nera has amassed in just a few months, and we are definitely committed to offering the architecture and interior design community luminaires that enhance their spaces while performing at the highest level. This is, for us, The Art of Light.”
- Mike Thornton, CMO of Focal Point.
